Cookie policy

The small files this website stores in your browser, and the choice you have. Draft for legal review — last updated 16 October 2026. This text has been prepared for NIT’s legal adviser and must be approved before it is relied on.

What cookies are

Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser so it can remember something between visits. We keep them to a minimum.

Your choice

When you first visit, a banner lets you choose Accept all or Essential only. Both options are equally easy, and the website works fully either way. You can change your choice at any time with Cookie settings in the footer of every page.

We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, and our fonts are served from our own website, so no request is sent to a third party when you browse.

Cookies we use

Essential (always on)

  • nit_consent — remembers whether you chose “Accept all” or “Essential only”, so we don’t ask again. Kept for 180 days.

Staff only (never set for visitors)

  • payload-token — keeps NIT staff signed in to the website administration area. Expires after 8 hours.
  • __prerender_bypass — lets signed-in staff preview unpublished changes. Removed when the browser closes.

Analytics (only after “Accept all”)

  • _ga and _ga_[ID] — set by Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are useful, with IP addresses anonymised. Kept for up to 2 years. [ONLY IF ANALYTICS IS ENABLED AT LAUNCH]

If you choose “Essential only”, analytics is never loaded.

Managing cookies in your browser

You can also delete or block cookies in your browser settings. If you block the essential cookie, the banner will appear on every visit.
